Application of New Techniques of Communication to Broaden Participation in Scientific and Technological Development

United Nations Conference on the Application of Science and Technology for the Benefit of the Less Developed Areas, Working Paper (1962), 7 pp.
"Although T.V. is an effective communication medium, in the matter of influence it will be some time before it can change the way of life of the villagers (who form the majority of the population of India) — The dissemination of knowledge should involve all the existing media (radio, cinema, press, etc.) — The new method of supplying information should be a harmonious combination of old and new ideas on knowledge — Various methods are used in India and would be more effective if more widely used — All this raises the final problem of a method of planning which makes allowance for various aspects and for certain socio-economic conditions.
