Literacy in Africa: A Partnership Model. Books for Africa Operations Handbook

St. Paul, Minn.: Books for Africa (2005), 16 pp.
"Books for Africa recycles books from the American schools and book distribution systems to African schools, libraries and non-governmental organizations. The books are donated, the labour is largely voluntary, and the only major costs are those of transportation. The other major necessity is a distribution network on the receiving end that ensures the books get into the hands of the readers. This handbook was developed in response to requests from other organizations interested in participating with BFA in ending the book famine in Africa. It outlines the history and organizational structure of the BFA model, and the different partnership options." (Hans M. Zell, Publishing, Books & Reading in Sub-Saharan Africa, 3d ed. 2008, nr. 1376)
