"The Media Development Initiative (MDI) commenced in January 2005. Component One, delivered through Papua New Guinea’s Media Council, provided support to media related and non government organisations through a flexible funding mechanism. It ended in January 2009. Component Two (MDI 2) focused on the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), strengthening its capacity as the national public broadcaster through its pre existing relationship with the Australian Broadcasting Coroporation.
