"The fact that the number of titles from only six years [3.199] almost equals that of the considerably longer reporting period of the basic work [covering the period between 1960 and 1987, published in 1988] demonstrates the proliferation of publications in this field as well. It is an advantage that most of the titles are now briefly annotated and that the typographical design is now much more pleasing. As in the basic work, the catalogue is divided into monographs (132) and articles (3,067); among the latter, the very short (newspaper) articles predominate by far, just as the journals and newspapers analysed are very difficult to access.[1] It is worth mentioning that the proportion of French-language publications far exceeds that of English-language publications (not to mention the relatively few in other languages). As far as the information content of many contributions is concerned, even the bibliographer[2] expresses lasting doubts. Index: 1. co-authors; 2. film actors; 3. film festivals; 4. film titles; 5. directors; 6. other persons involved in the production; 6. African countries; 7. selected keywords."
