"The Catholic News Archive is a free, fully searchable digital archive of Catholic newspapers. With participation and support from the Association of Catholic Diocesan Archivists (ACDA) and the Catholic Library Association (CLA), Atla’s CRRA program is taking the lead in digitizing historical Catholic newspapers. The archive launched in 2016 as a project of the Catholic Research Resources Alliance (now the CRRA Program at Atla), developed in partnership with newspapers, diocesan archives, and financial supporters to meet the need for online access and digital preservation of Catholic newspapers. Since then, the Catholic News Archive has grown steadily with content from 1831-2024, with more than 800,000 annual page views. It has become a news source regularly consulted by journalists, Church leaders, researchers, and readers worldwide.
