Influence of New Media on Evangelization: A Case of Paulines Book and Media Centres in Nairobi, Kenya

Contains bibliogr. pp. 64-71

"[...] Using a qualitative approach and a descriptive research design, data was gathered from Sisters and lay collaborators at three Pauline Centres in Nairobi through questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis. The main findings show that even though new media platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook are used, they are not always used to their full potential for evangelisation. This is because of problems like not having enough resources, not having the right skills, the digital landscape changing quickly, traditional ways of engaging with people like reading culture and centre visits declining, and the need for content that is better suited to digital audiences. However, there are big chances to strategically package faith content, improve staff skills, and learn about the needs of an audience that is comfortable with technology. The study says that the Pauline Sisters need to take a proactive, flexible, and morally sound approach to get through the digital age. It stresses the need to find a balance between timeless faith principles and new ways of communicating, to promote digital literacy, and to use new media strategically to stay relevant and effective in their evangelising mission in a world that is becoming more connected."
