Global Mapping of Communication for Development Interventions in Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation

New York: UNICEF (2013), 54 pp.

Contains illustrations, bibliogr. pp. 40-41

"The findings of this global mapping are organized into five main sections: The role of children, adolescents and youth in peacebuilding; mainstreaming C4D for peacebuilding in the education system; C4D for peacebuilding: adding value to education; most effective C4D approaches used for peacebuilding; measuring results of C4D initiatives in peacebuilding." (Page 5)
"The study relied on three primary sources of information: phone interviews with 18 C4D and peacebuilding experts external to UNICEF, interviews with six UNICEF staff (four in NY and two in Country Offices), a search for scholarly literature (within the last ten years), and a desk review of available and relevant UN documents. Some of the external experts interviewed were also based in country offices, specifically Sierra Leone and Nepal. Of the dozens of examples identified by the consultant, the case studies included in this report were selected on the basis of impact (where demonstrated), creativity of C4D principles and approaches, reach and geography (as wide a variety as possible). The primary audiences of this mapping exercise are UNICEF Country Office staff, especially C4D Specialists who support the Education, Peacebuilding and Advocacy Programme." (Methodology, page 6)
