ion. It includes tips from Kidz Radio participants; tips from older people; thoughts on participation and power-sharing; guidelines on how to create a healthy environment for learning. Chapter Three explores a range of activities that you can use in your Kidz Radio training. For example: confidence-building games and energisers; activities to release creativity; role plays; tools for teaching children interview skills, presentation techniques, and “writing for the ear”. Chapter Four discusses the most popular formats in Kidz Radio: magazine shows (including drama, storytelling, interviews, radio diaries, jokes and phone-ins); and news (how to report the stories that matter most to young people in your community). Chapter Five is a library of articles, toolkits, handbooks and websites about children's radio – not just in South Africa, but in other parts of the world too." (Page 7)

visually impaired, sign language, and subtitling for the deaf and the hard-of-hearing for television, DVD, cinema, internet and live performances. Thanks to the work of lobbying groups and the introduction of legislation in some countries, media accessibility is an area that has recently gained marked visibility in our society. It has begun to appear in university curricula across Europe, and is the topic of numerous specialised conferences." (Piublisher)

they contribute to the initial, intermediate, and long-term outcomes of health development efforts—something which perhaps we all instinctively recognize but have failed to track in the past. Such a track record will go a long way to making information products and services an integral part of future global health development efforts. What makes this guide special is that it brings together knowledge about monitoring and evaluating information products and services from dozens of health organizations—all members of the HIPNET community of practice." e CD-ROM can be adapted and applied to different objectives and numerous types of professional training courses in universities and other institutions of higher education, from first degrees to specialized masters. The contents of the CD-ROM are organized into four modules which summarize a body of theoretical and methodological information, illustrated by a large number of case studies: - The first module takes stock of the main ethical and practical aspects of sustainability, with a particular emphasis on communication. - The second module addresses the main social and economic issues against whose background sustainability communications take place: efforts to codify corporate social responsibility and their effects on communication practices; attitudes to responsible consumption as opposed to actual behaviour, and the effects of these on sustainability markets; and the challenges and opportunities of sustainability communication for companies (business case) and public institutions. - The third module summarizes the practices involved in sustainability communication: green marketing, corporate communication, social and responsible marketing, civic participation and awareness campaigns. It also deals with the risks involved and shows how transparency and strategic planning are essential prerequisites for communication. It concludes with the methodologies employed by actors and professionals to communicate whilst managing risk. - The fourth module, lastly, presents a series of five exercises dealing with sustainability communications in theory and practice: an investigation into the consistency between a company’s communication strategy and its actions, a comparative campaign analysis, a corporate image study, the identification of advertising performance indicators, and the preparation of a communication strategy. The modules employ a variety of educational resources to enable users to tailor the CD-ROM to their own needs: case studies, documentary resources, links to websites, and bibliography. These resources can be found in the “Case studies” and “Resources” sections of the CD-ROM. Direct links to selected case studies and resources are provided in each module." (Page 3)

rd. Anyone wanting to learn more about popular campaigning work, and about how change happens, will benefit from reading this book. It will show others who are working in this area how the initiatives it describes led to developing new campaigning components and overcoming obstacles. This book differs from a campaigning manual; the stories show how the relationships were developed and what processes were followed, explain the motivations behind the choices that the different alliances made, and highlight the resulting successes and failures of these alliances." "This report [...] recommends that interveners take the following series of steps as they generate a strategy for media development in post-conflict zones.
Predeployment Phase: Mapping and Strategizing: map out the existing media landscape; identify the postwar condition of the media infrastructure,

media personnel, and other resources that have survived the conflict; assess the history of state-media relations; analyze the potential market for sustainable media; create a strategy for developing media; coordinate all relevant players in media development; identify spoilers and create a plan to isolate extremist voices while elevating moderate ones; plan to establish a responsible media sector before the first postwar elections are held.
Deployment Phase: Building and Developing: build a foundation for the media sector; establish a mission-owned outlet to monitor and counter hate speech while promoting peace operations; create a representative media commission to establish media standards; create legal underpinnings for media during the transition or help the government to do so; create media outlets and develop personnel; encourage creation of a diverse array of media outlets and ensure media accessibility by different segments of the population; establish effective on-the-job training programs and mechanisms for evaluating trainees and university-based training programs; create local associations of journalists, publishers, and editors to strengthen leadership and connect local media actors to international media networks.
Exit Phase: Transitioning and Sustaining: transition to local control and ensure long-term sustainability; gradually give full control to local media leaders; ensure a robust media market in which private outlets are self-sustaining; create an indigenous mechanism to continue monitoring hate speech."
