"Climate and Sustainability Communication builds upon traditional approaches to understanding the role of mass media in shaping social issues by amplifying diverse perspectives of opinion leaders, as well as voices of those affected by climate and sustainability issues. o the United States and Zambia, the studies reported in this book—compiled using a variety of formal research methods, including content analysis, interview, and survey—emphasize cultural orientation and global implications of climate and sustainability concerns and issues. The contributors explore the cultures, geographies, and media systems underpinning climate and sustainability campaigns emerging around the world, how we theorize about them, and the ways in which media are used to communicate about them. The way in which complex problems and opportunities associated with globalization and power inequities interplay with climate and sustainability communication requires creative, interdisciplinary, approaches. This book opens new conversations for integrating scholarly arenas of mass media communication, science and environmental communication, political communication, and health communication, as well as their respective theory and research method sets." logies of the sibling disciplines. The Routledge Handbook of Ecocriticism and Environmental Communication charts the history of the relationship between ecocriticism and environmental communication studies, while also highlighting key new paradigms in information studies, diverse examples of practical applications of environmental communication and textual analysis, and the patterns and challenges of environmental communication in non-Western societies. Contributors to this book include literary, film and religious studies scholars, communication studies specialists, environmental historians, practicing journalists, art critics, linguists, ethnographers, sociologists, literary theorists, and others, but all focus their discussions on key issues in textual representations of human-nature relationships and on the challenges and possibilities of environmental communication. The handbook is designed to map existing trends in both ecocriticism and environmental communication and to predict future directions." (Publisher description)

"This edited volume, which elaborates on the idea and concept of sustainable journalism, is the result of a perceived lack of integral research approaches to journalism and sustainable development. ronmental protection as the three main pillars of a sustainable development. These pillars are intertwined, interdependent, and need to be reconciled. However, usually, scholars interested in the business crisis of the media industry tend to leave the social and environmental dimensions of journalism aside, and vice versa. What Is Sustainable Journalism? is the first book that discusses and examines the economic, social and environmental challenges of professional journalism simultaneously. This unique book and fresh contribution to the discussion of the future of journalism assembles international expertise in all three fields, arguing for the necessity of integral research perspectives and for sustainable journalism as the key to long-term survival of professional journalism." eria and options for decisions regarding sustainable practices are a result of public discourse and transparently communicated and learned alternatives. Therefore, environmental education and communication (EEC) plays a key role in the achievement of the SDGs, particularly Goal 4 Education, Goal 11 Cities, Goal 13 Climate Change, and Goal 15 Ecosystems. In this context, the communication and learning objectives are as ambitious as the SDGs. Loss of biodiversity, degradation of ecosystems, or climate change challenges cannot be understood without assessing the complex interactions between ecological, social and economic factors." edia works across local and networked cultures. Chapter 4 delves into the human rights organization, WITNESS, and discusses the concept of systems change, where making a difference requires coordinating interconnected elements within the socio-technical system. Chapter 6 looks at two youth media organizations to unpack how innovation and development can sometimes demand different approaches and organizational structures. Chapter 8 discusses an Indigenous leadership programme that uses the format of a catwalk event, showing how social networks and entertainment can be used to propel novel responses to disadvantage. Chapters 3, 5, 7 and 9 provide conceptual tools for navigating the social innovation media field: Chapter 3 discusses the origin and meaning of social innovation, including the growin interest in the contribution of digital media and technologies. Chapter 5 maps social innovation media onto evolving cultural policy discourses. We also attempt to measure the size of the social innovation media field in one country (Australia) to illustrate the difficulties in defining the field through data. Chapter 7 examines the social innovation media workforce and the motivations that underpin it. Through a qualitative analysis of youth media programmes in the United States and Australia, we show how idealistic and pragmatic motivations, as well as social interactions and cooperative mechanisms propel these media projects. Chapter 9 covers social impact evaluation. We look at the importance of context specific approaches (across qualitative and quantitative methods), the role of evaluation as a learning and feedback mechanism for organizations, as well as issues of scale and replicability. The final chapter brings together the various themes of the book and discusses the key challenges for policy and research. We have also provided a short summary of the pragmatic insights we derived from our research, written specifically for social innovation practitioners." (Pages 12-13)

e studies promoting sustainable forest management in Asia and the Pacific. Each project was conducted in 2015–16 and included a primary objective of influencing ‘community awareness and attitudes’ towards sustainable forest management. While the case studies do not offer examples of the complete PDC approach, they highlight how sustainable forest management projects in the Asia-Pacific region are moving away from one-way information dissemination toward using two-way communication approaches and tools to promote community participation in forest decision-making." vidas y el impacto que tenemos en él.
