"In this chapter, we have looked at how Buddhism and orality have been translated into film in Bhutan. We have argued, that cinema operates as a secondary oral medium, through the various rituals of production, distribution and consumption and, most significantly, at the level of story construction.
...
Although Bhutan has a remarkably strong oral legacy, cinema and electronic media have undeniably changed its traditional narrative structure, re-mediating it and, in the process, creating new storytelling forms." (Conclusion, page 170)

action. It then presents "Seven Rules of the Road" for those seeking to maximise the impact of visuals: 1. Don't assume others will react to a picture or video the same way you do. Test visuals with your intended audience. (Cost-effective strategies are offered for how to carry out such testing). 2. Pair your pictures with words for highest impact and to cement them deeper into your audience's memory. 3. Make sure your images match your message. 4. Use genuine, not generic, pictures. 5. Invest the most in the first picture your audience sees, and in overall design quality. 6. To use pictures effectively, be diligent about taking them and storing them for easy sharing. 7. Choose your subjects carefully." (commbox)

the process of sharing them are the building blocks for deep interpersonal relationships where the processes of healing, reconciliation, resolution, and conflict prevention are found. When we engage in story-telling and story-listening, we experience new worlds and discover how other people travel in paths similar to our own. We find stories that have the power to transcend borders, time, and space. Stories tell us about the diversity of traditions, customs, and ways of life that are an important part of everyday life." s. I challenge notions that DST mediation is limited to relationships between the storyteller and the technology, and instead focus on mediation as a co-creative process. There are at least two overlooked dynamics in DST. The first is how the organisation adopts narrative guidelines to fit their framework and purpose; and second, the social relationships mediating the way actors related to one another in the workshop. I find that the workshop model and specific narrative structure may constrain ways of conveying ‘experience’. Not every participant’s experience or mode of narration is readily suited for DST. On the other hand, participants also report DST as useful for strengthening community relationships and opening up a more self-reflexive space for critical thinking." (Abstract)

from selected digital stories are shared to highlight how these short films can be used to understand struggles against class and gender hierarchies, sexual harassment, and the need to establish full citizenship rights for minority groups. The article makes a case for digital stories as a new methodology for doing and communicating research. It also sheds light on the nature of the technology itself and confronts the limitations and dilemmas that were faced, particularly with regard to authenticity and representation." (Abstract)

tray in other kinds of media. Although games are an excellent medium for many types of storytelling, their interactivity makes them far different from more traditional media such as books and film. Interactive stories themselves havemany unique and challenging issues that aren’t encountered when writing a more traditionally structured tale, which we’ll be discussing all throughout the rest of this book. Game writers also need to think about many other factors, such as the synthesis between the story and gameplay and how to maintain a proper pace when the story’s progression is, at least to a certain extent, controlled by the player."
