El presente trabajo aborda algunas áreas de relevancia en comunicación y salud: a) diagnóstico, b) planeación, c) validación, d) monitoreo y e) evaluación, entre otras." f what happens during communicating in a crisis, offering tools and ideas on planning, implementing and evaluating a communications strategy, big or small. Taken into an account the current COVID-19 pandemic, a chapter on COVID-19 and crises communication has been included. This manual can be used as a step-by-step document where the reader can start from the first chapter and finish on the last. It can also be used as a guidance for a single action, be it arranging a press conference or looking at how to select target groups. The references to other documents give direction towards further reading. The steps and actions described in the manual are real life examples. The focus is on the how rather than the theories behind. However, to have an idea of theories behind practice, the main overarching theory is described briefly. Each chapter highlights examples of theories behind the tools, bringing in the importance of learning from previous successes, challenges, and failures." (Introduction)

"The Government of Madhya Pradesh is committed to ensure the overall development of all its residents, especially women and children. rs, enable holistic development and protection of children and ensure safety, equity and empowerment of women. The department implements the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme for improving maternal and infant nutrition and health. It also implements the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) and various other schemes and programmes for health, gender equality and women empowerment. Over the years, a lot of progress has been made. However, there are still a few indicators that are not doing well as expected. Census 2011, National Family Health Survey – 4 (2015-16) and NFHS-5 (2019-21) have found that low sex ratio, lack of women empowerment, experiencing gender-based violence, substance abuse, low female literacy, child marriage and small landholdings are some of the determinants of poor health and empowerment of women and children. Individual and community behaviours, attitudes, social norms and practices are some of the reasons for such indicators.
To bring about an improvement in these indicators and positively transform the status of women and children in Madhya Pradesh, a comprehensive state-specific social and behaviour change (SBC) strategy has been developed for DWCD. This strategy is supported by the recommendations provided in the department’s other policies. The state’s Nutrition Policy (2020-30) emphasizes on the importance of designing SBCC plans in local dialects for its acceptability and greater involvement of the community. The centre’s Poshan Abhiyan which DWCD follows stresses on community mobilisation and behaviour change, highlighting the need to take-up sustained efforts requiring multi-pronged approach and bring grass-root synergy and convergence. The state’s Child Protection Policy (2020) also highlights the need to build awareness and stakeholder capacities to strengthen implementation and the enabling environment to ensure child well-being and protection. This document details the SBC strategy which includes thematic area-wise priority and desired behaviours that should be practised by the target groups for improved indicators, barriers and enablers to its adoption, key messages to be communicated and strategic approach and interventions that will facilitate positive change." recommendations put forth are actionable and responsive to the unique challenges faced by the United States in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. The report relies on a few foundational practices of effective health communication, namely coordinated communication and consistent messaging, trust building through partnerships, consideration of different health literacy levels in the population, and importantly, prioritizing equity in all aspects of communication. We build on these foundational principles to outline three intersecting considerations for communication efforts (What is being communicated, Who is the target of the message, and How the message is communicated), along with concrete recommendations for targeted and tailored communication that responds to the needs and perspectives of the intended audience." Given this context, the main objective of these guidelines is to provide tools for staff working in the field of immunization to support effective communication between health personnel and the general population, with the aim of strengthening, maintaining or recovering trust in vaccines and the immunization programs in the Region of the Americas." experience with a focus on reaching the hardest-to-reach populations in the final polio reservoirs of the world. It provides a comprehensive strategic framework and identifies the key steps of planning and executing an effective and adaptive polio communication response from mass media all the way down to interpersonal communication [...] Previous polio communication strategies often utilised risk communication and targeted individual caregivers with facts about polio and polio vaccination. The new polio strategy is specifically designed to address the dynamic perceptions and social norms that deter caregivers in the remaining 1% of the world from vaccinating their children. Our shift to social norm communication is grounded in recent polling research on populations affected by polio in endemic and outbreak contexts, and their responses to polio eradication efforts. Primarily, this research shows the prevalence of unsupportive social norms in high-risk areas." (Introduction)

We aim to impart knowledge from the field about using political structures, communication strategies and grass roots communications; sending key messages; dealing with the local media; training mobilizers; conducting a local assessment; and preparing a local plan. This can be used both in local assessments and district planning at a national level, and will help find the correct media mix in these contexts that balances the effective use of printed materials and social networks."
