The analysis suggests that the WCF used the Internet to enhance affective communications and connections among different religious and political actors. In particular, speakers at the event emotionally articulated antagonism between pro-family actors and those allegedly against family values, enacting the populist trope of “the people” against “the elites,” and also embedding anti-feminist, racist, and anti-migration discourses. In this article, I analyze Gan's films by locating them in their social, political, and religious contexts, by comparing them with other Chinese films, and by linking them to the tradition of Western films that portray spirituality. I observe a progression in themes and style from Gan's first feature, The Only Sons, CN 2002, to his third, Waiting for God, CN 2012. I seek to show that Gan developed a restrained directorial style in order to connect with the spirituality of Chinese peasants. Although he had to grope in the dark on many aspects, his engagement with Christian themes has greatly expanded the narrative space of Chinese cinema. "(Abstract)

The second problem focuses on the functions of the cross in the Church’s devotional and catechetical practice, as well on its issue in theological discourses and in the Church’s magisterium. In Christian art history, many stories of debates and disputes can be found; for example, when the iconoclastic controversy arose, the intervention of the second Council of Nicea for the protection of Icons and their veneration enriched and encouraged the development of the sacred art culture in Christianity. Thus, the symbolism and imageries of cross and crucifix has a long and rich history of development and popularity, despite the obstacles. Finally, the thesis investigates the various communication areas of today dealing with the meaning of the Christian cross.
